Wholesale MOQ Guide: How Many Units Should You Order?

Minimum order quantity (MOQ) is one of the first numbers a factory quotes — and one of the most misunderstood. Getting your first order quantity right matters more than most buyers expect: order too little and unit costs spike; order too much and you tie up capital in stock that may not move.

Why MOQs exist

Factories need MOQs because fabric must be cut in bulk, production lines have setup costs, and materials are purchased per batch. A realistic MOQ keeps the factory efficient and the unit price fair — for both sides.

How Bontex's tiered pricing works

Bontex structures pricing in quantity tiers: 50 / 100 / 250 / 500 / 1000 pieces. Each tier lowers the unit price, so you can start with a smaller trial order and scale as your sales grow, without renegotiating from zero.

Ordering smart

Three practical rules: (1) order samples before committing to bulk — they are the cheapest insurance you can buy; (2) project your first 2–3 months of sales before choosing a tier; (3) if you need custom manufacturing, branding or exclusive designs, ask about OEM/ODM options — email Sales@bontex.hk.
