Plastic bottles take 450 years to decompose. We decided not to wait.
Why It Matters
A planet-first commitment since 2018.
Plastic bottles are ubiquitous — and they are one of the world's most persistent environmental challenges. A single PET bottle discarded today will take approximately 450 years to decompose in soil. Multiply that by the billions produced and discarded annually, and the scale of the problem becomes clear.
Bontex was among the first textile manufacturers in the world to commit to creating 100% environmentally friendly products. Every bag, textile, and accessory we produce starts its life as a discarded plastic bottle — and ends it as a premium product in the hands of a conscious consumer or brand.
Our product range spans shopping bags, travel bags, backpacks, home textiles, towels, and more — all carrying the same fundamental promise: made without a single gram of virgin plastic.
The RPET Journey
From bottle to boutique — the complete circle.
RPET (recycled polyethylene terephthalate) is the material science at the heart of everything Bontex makes. The transformation from discarded bottle to premium textile is a remarkable industrial process.
Post-consumer PET bottles are collected from worldwide sources, sorted, cleaned, and processed into raw material flakes. These flakes are then melted down and extruded into continuous polyester fibres — the same quality found in virgin production, but without the environmental cost.
Those fibres are spun into threads and woven through various methods to create different textures and weights of eco-textile — ready for Bontex's in-house printing, cutting, sewing, and finishing.
